WhatTo Expect From Search Engine Optimization

SEO is not an exact science but there are many businesses out there that will gladly assure you they have all the answers and can get it done for you. The real truth is SEO changes as much as the weather. Techniques used in 1995 would get you black balled by today’s search engines. The algorithms (math formulas for the search engine) of today are very sophisticated. The search engine's customer (the searcher) is going to be served the best possible answer to their search query. SEO is one of a many steps you take to tell the search engine that you have the answer.

What Can Be Expected
  • The search engines will analyze the content and determine what the subject of each page is about and index the site for reference.
  • The key word is page. Each page is independent to your whole site so each must be optimized.
  • As a search is made your site page will be compared with other pages and the best fit pages will be shown first.
  • The search engines rankings of today will change tomorrow so site positioning must also change regularly.
  • Older sites will be more than likely to rank higher.
  • If your subject is a competitive subject, you will be competing with millions of other pages.
  • If you do NOT perform Search Engine Optimization, your site will NEVER be found.
  • Every search engine ranks with a different set of changing rules.
  • Good results in one search engine do NOT mean good results in other search engines.
  • You can expect up to 3 or 4 months before optimization will show any results.
  • If SEO and other techniques are successfully used, you can expect traffic.
  • If your page is helpful to the reader and informative, expect new readers and perspective sales.

What Search Engine Optimization Will NOT Do
  • SEO will NOT give you guaranteed results, EVER.
  • It takes time, new visitors will probably take at least several months, be patient.
  • You can NOT market hundreds of phrases. Plan on less than a dozen phrases, or maybe one competitive keyword phrase.
  • This is not a do it and forget it processes. Each page will need continued updating
  • Search Engine Optimization is not an easy answer. It requires hard and continued work.
  • Real SEO will not come without a cost, count on time and money each month.
  • The $49 a month guarantees are bogus. The operative word is guarantee, there are none and someone who makes that promise is not being totally truthful with you.
In Conclusion
Search Engine Optimization is important. Depending on your needs and revenue, you may not be able to have this professionally done. There are no magical or mysterious techniques. You can do this yourself, but plan on a lot of work ahead of you. Watch this blog for ideas and tools you can use to increase your chances.
